Personal History
I qualified from Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, fulfilling a desire to be a Physiotherapist since the age of seven. The training was very ‘hands-on’ and this has served me well throughout my career. Since then I have always had a practical approach to treatment and this has developed and expanded over the years.
Before I started to work as an independent practitioner I worked in the NHS for 12 years in Liverpool, London and North Staffordshire. I gained invaluable experience in many aspects of physiotherapy, including the management and direct involvement in the commissioning of a new physiotherapy department. In addition 3 years were spent working abroad in Botswana with a voluntary agency, this was a very rewarding and satisfying job.
I began working in Leek full time in 1988, concentrating on musculo-skeletal problems. Since then the practice has developed a reputation for high standards in the treatment of neck and back pain. My skills are regularly updated, revised and developed and more than meet the criteria of both the CSP (Chartered Society of Physiotherapists) and HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council).

Over twenty-five years ago I trained in Acupuncture with an emphasis on treating musculoskeletal pain. Some 15 years ago I trained as a Homeopath which gives a different perspective on health and disease. Since then I have qualified as a Mindfulness Teacher
My aim is to offer as much of a holistic and objective approach as I can to restoring a person’s normal usual activities as quickly as possible. There are regular reviews throughout the course of treatment.
Also, I work in Occupational Health which enables me to bring specialist ergonomic knowledge into my practice.
Making patients aware of preventing or reducing the risk of injury is also a key part of my practice whether related to the workplace, home or sport
